00. THE CONTEXT

What happens when the objects we live with become more than cold and inert? When we feel some kind of empathy for a couch? Some kinship to a lamp?

These are unprecedented times. When we walk down the steps from our homes and out onto the sidewalks, we see only eyes above faces covered with fabric, unruly hair peeking out from windows. The friends we used to see and hug and touch and share a meal with now sit six feet away in the chilly fall breeze.

As our connection to other humans diminishes, our connections to our spaces become amplified. The objects we live with become the companions of our everyday life.

00. PERCHED

It sits, on your shelf, on a shoulder, on a rail. Its legs dangle as it softens edges . It is a companion of sorts, keeping your company through lonely lockdowns and solitary remote work.
