LOCK AND ROLL
beyond the platonic, encouraging intimacy

stop motion of locking + wiggling
L00. MORE THAN THE SUM
A computational exploration into how two forms could combine into an orientation neither could hold on their own.
the embrace
L01. THE EMBRACE
Two gentle holds that require an off-center and rotational assembly, and then tension into a tight hug. The addition of the upper character lifts the base from its tipped resting position, and even with jostling the two will come back to rest in their sitting position.
rotational assembly
L02. STOP LOCK + ROLL
The two pieces rest, ready to embrace and approach their settled collaborative position. The stability of the final position is determined and ensured by center of mass calculations and manipulations. The pieces are then 3D printed, internal solids and voids further dialing in the accuracy of the calculated position.
